Easy Summer Diet Tips from Cynthia Pasquella, Part 3

Last week we shared additional diet tips by Cynthia Pasquella, an acclaimed LA nutritionist, who’s Five-Day Body Makeover Diet was featured in May’s Harper Bazaar magazine.

Since some people may want to lose more than 5 pounds, Cynthia was delighted to share more dieting/healthy living tips with WomenCentric Listing Members. Here’s the last installment of Cynthia’s healthy dieting /sensible eating advice – enjoy!

WomenCentric: What is considered a healthy fat count/ BMI for women, and does this number change with age?

Cynthia Pasquella: Body fat percentage is a better determinant of a person’s health and health risks than BMI. BMI doesn’t take into consideration body composition so it’s possible for women with a normal BMI to have an unhealthy amount of body fat. This condition is known as “normal weight obesity” or “over-fat.” Ideally, women should have no more than 30 percent body fat. In regards to age, research has determined that as we age there is a tendency to increase body fat and decrease muscle mass so it’s especially important for women to be aware of maintaining a healthy diet and fitness program.

WomenCentric: Can you recommend any free online resources to: help keep struggling dieters on path, offer a place to track their progress and provides them with interesting, quick, healthy diet-friendly recipes??

I love my daily emails from Vital Juice. From nutrition to fitness to beauty, they cover it all!

Mind Body Green is also a favorite. Their holistic approach is right up my alley and the interviews are fantastic!

As for inspiration, I personally love waking up to a Note from the Universe courtesy of TUT.

WomenCentric: Do you have any book recommendations for our readers?

As for book recommendations, I have so many but I’ll keep these to a minimum!

First of all, I’m so proud to have authored my first book, P.I.N.K. Method, which has been a huge success for hundreds of thousands of women already! Whether you have a significant amount of weight to lose, or you just want to tighten up and blast through those last stubborn pounds, the P.I.N.K. Method can help you reach your goals and then some! Plus you get 12 amazing workouts and you’ll join the PINK VIP community of over 100,000 women who offer support and motivation and have expert support (including myself) to answer all of your questions!

I’m also a big fan of Forks Over Knives by Gene Stone, Dr. T. Colin Campbel and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. I recommend both the book and the DVD. This is one of the most eye-opening documentaries when it comes to America’s health and the true benefit of a plant-based diet. Our food really is our medicine!

And lastly, Eat To Live by Joel Fuhrman, MD. You’ll learn so much about how and why your cravings happen and how to reconnect with true hunger once again.
